About
With over 8 years of experience working in mental health, I am dedicated to helping individuals feel more in control of themselves and their lives. I also work with couples and polyamorous or consensually non-monogamous relationships to help strengthen communication and understanding between all parties involved. My approach is grounded in evidence-based research while honoring the uniqueness of your lived experience. I love what I do and feel so lucky to get to wake up every day and help my clients create change in their lives, and I believe that shows through in the work we do together.
My journey in mental health began after spending years working as an EMT on an ambulance, meeting people in their times of crisis. I’m currently earning my Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University and have worked as a therapist in community mental health and trauma settings before starting in private practice under the license of Dr. Linda Thorson.
Methodology
I consider therapy to be a powerful tool that can also be intense and sometimes even painful. I meet moments of difficulty with compassion, empathy, curiosity and respect. I blend a warm approach with attentive listening and take an active and direct role when needed. I offer reflections, pose thought-provoking questions, and encourage exploration of difficult topics that may be tempting to avoid. I consider it an honor to be of support for clients navigating the complex difficulties of their lives.
I have also been known to utilize some humor and lightness, as I believe the work of therapy can be joyful as well as challenging. I believe in recognizing the inherent power dynamics in a therapy session and strive to make therapy feel collaborative. Think of your life as a unique and intricate landscape that only you truly know. I’m a guide who has studied many maps and knows the terrain of mental health well. Together, we can navigate your landscape with my guidance and your expertise.
